NUMBER ONE TITLE

On November 30 1978, the late, great, legendary and immortal, Seattle Slew retired from the sport of thoroughbred horse racing. Although his racing days had concluded, his life of greatness was about to soar to a whole new level of achievement. That's because as a stallion, the mighty Slew would set records that awed the world and left all the rest in the dust. By November 2005, he had sired an astounding 117 stakes winners, the vast majority of which were at the Grade 1 level.

On April 21 1981, one of those 117 stakes winners was born at Claiborne Farm in Paris, kentucky. His name was Swale, and he would become one of Seattle Slew's greatest, most talented and most beloved sons. In this book, Timothy J. Thompson details Swale's life in the most dynamic way. He covers his foaling, birthing, breaking, early training, and fine tuning. Then, he takes an in depth look at each of Swale's fourteen races. You will move from the paddock, into the starting gate, across the finish line, and into the Winners' Circle. It is so compelling, you will feel as if you are the jockey as Swale storms to victory in some of the sport's most significant contests.

Afterward, Swale's untimely tragic end is described, and the way in which he fought to live is examined in great detail. Then, Mr. Thompson provides the reader with a vivid description of the inquiry that followed. You will learn what was the most likely cause of Swale's death, and how it happened. The final chapter discusses what might have been has Swale been allowed to finish out his racing career and enter stallion duty. This leaves the reader with a sense of wonder, and is very thought provoking. There are sixteen wonderful photographs included for the readers' enjoyment, along with Swale's race record and pedigree. After reading this book, you will love and admire Swale, and you will never forget him.

NUMBER TWO TITLE

On Saturday morning, December 16 1944, the serene calm of the Ardennes Forest in southern Belgium was violently shattered by the deafenning roar of German guns. All along an 85 mile front running from Monschau in the north down to Echternach in the south, the ground shook and the forest trembled as nearly 2000 enemy artillery pieces, mortars and rocket tubes relentlessly pounded American forward positions for three quarters of an hour. This was the opening salvo in what would become known to history as, The Battle of the Bulge.

In the phenomenal military history book, The Ardennes On Fire, brilliant young author, Timothy J. Thompson describes, in detail, the massive German buildup in the three months prior to the massive German assault. The reader will discover just how the Germans, on the brink of absolute collapse follwing their catastrophic defeat in the Battle for Normandy, were able to right themselves, and then amass a colossal force of men, tanks and guns for an all-out counter-offensive that was designed to split the Western Allies' assunder.

Afterward, day one of the German attack is detailed through the eyes of both American and German participants. You will feel as though you were right smack, dab in the middle of the desperate fighting as it took place in the northern, central, and southern sectors.

There are 101 great photographs included for the readers' enjoyment, along with five hand drawn maps by Timothy J. Thompson himself that show the American front as it appeared at midnight Decmber 16, as well as the maximm German penetration in all three sectors by 11:30 PM that evening.

The Battle of the Bulge was one of the most epic clashes of arms in all of military history. The Ardennes On Fire retells the beginning of this fantastic story like no other book ever written on the subject. It is a must read for any World War Two buff.

NUMBER THREE TITLE

On Friday evening, February 22 1980, lightning struck in the tiny village of Lake Placid, New York. For, on that very night, the absolute impossible happened. The United States Men's Olympic Hockey Team defeated the vaunted Soviet Union 4 to 3 in the tournament's semi-final match. It was the single greatest upset in the history of sports.

Up until that point in time, the Soviets had dominated the sport of International hockey in every way, manner, shape, and form possible. Ever since 1954, with only slight interuption, they had spent theri mornings, afternoons, and evenings systematically demolishing whomever they went up against. They had won Gold Medals in the Winter Olympics of 1956, 1964, 1968, 1972, and 1976; and were rarely challenged in any of them.

In September 1972, they shocked the best Canadian players of the NHL in an incredible eight game series. Two years later, they humiliated them in yet another eight game series. Then, in February 1979, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, they annihilated the NHL All-Stars in a three game series that is still referred to this day as, "The Embarrassment."

From 1954 through 1992, the Soviet Hockey Dynasty would win 21 World Championships, 8 Olympic Gold Medals, 1 Olympic Silver Medal, and 1 Olympic Bronze Medal. Without question, they were the single greatest hockey dynasty in all of recorded history.

In this wonderful book, the very first in a series of upcoming volumes, author Timothy J. Thompson examines how this incredible dynasty was born. He traces the roots of hockey in Russia, discusses their unique training methods and ground breaking philosophies, while providing the reader with intriguing background information on the two patriarchs of Soviet hockey.

There are ten excellent photographs included for the readers' enjoyment, along with a full and comprehensive index that makes finding out little tidbits of information as easy as 1-2-3. After reading this wonderful book, you will have a much greater love and respect for the sport of hockey, and will wait anxiously for the next volume to come out in print.
